With our year almost up, it was time (yet again) to look at the future and make changes. NZ has been absolutely wonderful but we need to return to the UK for the birth of our 2nd grandchild and to sort out Rogers’s mother’s estate.
So, in 8 weeks, we worked like beavers to finish off renovating our house, then worked out an expenditure on the building, assessed the cost of housing nearby and processed a realistic figure for which to market its sale. With the encouragement of Vicki we took the plunge and advertised it as a private sale on trade me- the nz internet auction site. It did really look spectacular. Gulp- within 4 days 6a was sold—and for almost our asking price. 1st time buyers Russell and Rhonda (both nurses) were a delightful couple, pleasing us that they should take over our lovely home- becoming engaged soon after. 5th Oct became the agreed completion date, leaving us time to be tourists again. Trips to the local theatre for concerts by the NZ Royal Navy, walks, visit to the zoo, and days out in no worries. My work permit expired on 2nd September- so a good excuse to travel out of the country. Searching on the internet for good prices, led me to book a mammoth trip; 10 days in Fiji, onto Vanuatu for 10 days, flying onto Melbourne for 10 days to visit Rogers 2 daughters. After 30 days away we would fly back to Melbourne to move out of 6a. Not bad eh?
