The Top Wave
The "Top Wave" is a nice breaking wave perfect for endless spins. This is a favourite spot of the more experienced paddlers who manage to perform many of the more glorious rodeo moves ... It is also a hang-out of the "slightly crazy" who jump in and surf boogie-boards on the wave. HOWEVER;  the real experts side-surf the wave standing up, then get back in the boat, pull off a loop or two and casually paddle off down stream!

The Top Wave looks a little daunting at first as it strongly resembles a place that you wouldn't want to play around in on a river! In this instance however what looks like a retentive stopper between two concrete walls (no exit at the sides) is actually a very well designed braking wave that lets-go on a regular basis, so the only real danger here is a bruised ego. Also no eddy here and not much chance of paddling back up if washed out ... you will need to get out and walk back upstream to to have another go.
